Piña Colada Smoothie with Collagen
By Ethan Boldt

Generally, you hear "Piña Colada" and think of an overly sweet, rum-soaked drink. But not this time. This Piña Colada Smoothie is all about health and energy. It also made our list of easy breakfast ideas and healthy gut recipes.
Did you know that the coconut and pineapple are two of the best fruits you can eat? (In spite of having the word “nut” in its name, the coconut is considered a fruit — not a nut.)
Coconut is a medium chain fatty acid that’s easily digested and converted to energy instead of being stored as fat. Pineapple is rich in vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, manganese, thiamine and vitamin B6. Chia seeds and raw honey add more nutrients to the mix.
Plus this recipe uses our Multi Collagen Protein Vanilla or Collagen Peptides Vanilla protein powder to add skin, joint and gut benefits. Check out the impressive macros below: 24 grams of protein, 25 grams of fats and 49.5 grams of carbs (with 10 gram of fiber, so net carbs actually 39.5 grams).
Start your day with this Piña Colada Collagen Smoothie, and you won't be sorry!
Try using a frozen banana, as that will create a creamier texture and hold up longer as you leisurely drink this pina colada smoothie.
Using frozen pineapple is also a good way to go instead of ice, which can water down the drink and make it less fun to drink.
I recommend using reduced fat coconut milk here, as using full-fat coconut milk adds considerable more calories. Another option is doing half full-fat coconut milk and half almond milk (unsweetened), which is lower in calories.
Besides chia seeds, another seed full of antioxidants with a pleasant flavor is flaxseed. So you may choose to add those instead.
This one is as easy as it gets. Simply combine the ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend well. Add a little water if it's too thick for your taste.
Also, try my collagen-based chia seed smoothie bowl for a nice switch-up.
