Mangorita Mocktail for Cinco de Mayo

Mangorita

Cinco de Mayo is probably one of the least understood U.S. celebrations, as it commemorates a bloody battle (the 1862 Battle of Puebla) that saw a Mexican army defeat an invading French army. Today, it’s a holiday more celebrated in the U.S. than Mexico, and it serves to celebrate Mexican culture, including with food and drink.

Lately, Cinco de Mayo mocktails are trending, as more folks are avoiding alcohol and instead want a nutrition-rich yet tasty drink to celebrate. This mangorita fits the bill perfectly, as it brings together delicious fruits and flavors alongside Ancient Nutrition’s brand new mango-flavored SuperGreens powder.

Key Mangorita Ingredients

  • Mango: Called the king of fruits, mango contains plenty of fiber, vitamin C, vitamin A and vitamin B6. It’s also not nearly as high in calories as it tastes.

  • Pineapple: Popular in many mocktails and smoothies, pineapple is filled with phytonutrients, as well as the enzyme bromelain, that can help enhance digestion.

  • Spinach: Leafy greens like spinach are loaded with nutrition, plus their low calorie and high fiber content make them ideal for promoting healthy weight management and supporting proper digestion.

  • Coconut water: Nature’s sport drink, coconut water is a great source of vitamin C and potassium.

  • Lime: Also full of vitamin C, lime adds a distinct flavor that any kind of margarita mocktail calls for.

  • Organic SuperGreens Mango: Each scoop delivers 25 organic superfoods, like cleansing greens, fermented mushrooms, antioxidant-filled berries, adaptogenic herbs and more — all in an undeniably delicious mango flavor.

How to Make A Mangorita

For the mango and pineapple, frozen works best for this recipe. You can also use fresh varieties, but then add a handful of ice as well.

Add the mango, pineapple, spinach and coconut water to a high-speed blender. Add one scoop of Organic SuperGreens Mango. Squeeze one lime, ideally with a manual or electric juice squeezer, and add to the blender. (If you want to turn this mangorita mocktail into a cocktail, add an ounce or an ounce and a half of tequila at this point.)

Mangorita directions

Blend on high for a few minutes, until smooth and fully combined.

To spice it up a bit, use hot sauce as well as Tajín seasoning as a flavor enhancer. Place hot sauce in a shallow dish and Tajín in a separate shallow dish. Dip a cocktail glass into the hot sauce first and then the Tajín.

Mangorita recipe step

Pour in the mangorita mixture into the glass and enjoy.

Note that this drink will last for one to two days when stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
