Healthy homemade popsicles

When the weather gets warmer, your desire for dessert or a sweet snack doesn’t go away. It simply morphs into wanting something sweet but cold. Ice cream can do the trick, but sometimes the crowd favorite is a simple fruit-based popsicle.

Low in calories, sweet but not too sweet and even healthy? That’s the case with these homemade popsicles, each using real fruit alongside one of our popular and flavorful collagen powders. These will become one of your favorite summer dessert recipes.

Why make your own? Well, those store-bought ones are definitively not healthy; they're often full of food dyes, artificial ingredients, high fructose corn syrup and even preservatives. Yuck.

Instead, cool down with the heat with these three homemade popsicles: guava passionfruit, strawberry lemonade and lemon lime.

Key Homemade Popsicle Ingredients

Let’s start with fruit. Not only does it provide the natural sweetness and color, each fruit in these homemade popsicles also provides plenty of vitamin C.

Guava passion fruit popsicle ingredients

The guava passion fruit popsicle uses dragon fruit and guava juice. Dragon fruit? This tropical fruit is having a moment, and it can even be found frozen at shops like Walmart and Target. To get fresh, you have to go to a Whole Foods most likely.

This popsicle also uses Multi Collagen Protein Beauty Within powder. Along with its divine guava passion fruit flavor, it mixes easily and adds valuable collagen protein for skin, joint and gut health.

Strawberry lemonade popsicle ingredients

The strawberry lemonade popsicle relies on strawberries, naturally. This fruit is very high in vitamin C yet relatively low in fruit sugar. This recipe also uses lemon juice to give the possible some bite.

Multi Collagen Protein Strawberry Lemonade powder is also used to supply collagen in this delicious flavor. In fact, this is our most popular summer collagen because the flavor is so outstanding and fitting for warmer days.

Both of these recipes also use Greek yogurt (full fat) to add creaminess to the popsicles. Unlike regular yogurt, Greek yogurt is higher in protein while also adding natural probiotics for the gut.

Lemon lime popsicle ingredients

The final popsicle, the lemon lime variety, uses both lime and lemon juice for a lovely margarita-like taste. It also relies on coconut water for added hydration benefits, which are only expanded by the addition of Multi Collagen Advanced Hydrate powder.

In a lemon lime flavor, this collagen protein adds hydration for both skin and body. In fact, this groundbreaking collagen contains twice the electrolytes vs. leading sports drinks.

How to Make Healthy Homemade Popsicles

Each popsicle recipe is similar. No need for fancy equipment. Simply take our high-power blender, and add the ingredients (each one requires less than five).

Blend well, for at least one minute or more. For the lemon lime popsicles, you can optionally add the zest of the lemon and lime to the mixture and stir in.

Next, you’ll need popsicle molds, typically made from silicon. Simply fill them up with the popsicle mixture and insert a popsicle in the middle.

How to make homemade popsicles

Pop in the freezer and allow to freeze for at least four hours. Overnight is best for full setting to occur.

Tips for removing popsicles from the mold: Gently run warm water on the outside of the mold for about 1 minute or less, until you can feel the popsicle loosening.

Storage: Frozen popsicles will last in the freezer for one to two weeks when stored in a freezer bag.
