Keto Chocolate Mousse: Just 4 Net Carbs Per Serving
By Ethan Boldt
December 11, 2023
Following the keto diet doesn’t have to mean cutting out dessert entirely. This keto chocolate mousse recipe only uses mashed avocado, vanilla extract, cacao powder, water and Keto Protein Chocolate to create a creamy keto dessert recipe.
This treat doesn’t compare to a traditional mousse recipe’s level of sweetness, but it will help satisfy any lingering after-dinner dessert cravings without knocking you out of ketosis. It's also got the perfect macros, with 256 calories per serving and 4 net carbs (total carbs minus fiber), 20 grams of fat and 12 grams of protein. You won't want any food until the next day!
Many of us ask how much sugar per day? Well, on keto, that means very little … and this mousse only contains 0.9 grams of sugar per serving.
Avocados are the headliner here in terms of healthy fats vital for the keto diet. They're also rich in fiber, vitamin K, folate, vitamin C and potassium. That fiber helps bring the net carbs down so low for this keto chocolate mousse.
In terms of its fatty acid composition, the fat in avocado is about 71 percent monounsaturated fatty acids, 13 percent polyunsaturated fatty acids and 16 percent saturated fatty acids.
Next up is cacao powder. Not only does it contain good fats, but real, organic, raw cacao is a superfood containing a variety of unique phytonutrients, including high amounts of flavonoids, sulfur, magnesium and phenylethylamine. Cacao is one of the best sources of polyphenols and have more antioxidant activity than tea, wine, blueberries and even goji berries.
The secret ingredient is Ancient Nutrition's Keto Protein Chocolate, which provides high-quality protein and fat from chicken bone broth and coconut MCTs plus energizing antioxidant and adaptogenic herbs. It's truly a superior keto protein that also supports your skin, nails, joints and gut health.
First, slice open the avocado and scoop out the flesh. Smash in a small bowl and then add to a food processor. If you don't have a food processor, simply hand mix in a mixing bowl, with wooden spoon.
Next, add the vanilla extract, keto protein powder and cacao powder and process (or mix) until creamy. Stop to scrape down the sides of the bowl with a scraper.
Add the water and process (or mix) until smooth.
Divide into four dessert bowls or glasses. Optionally, add some a few fresh blueberries and shaved coconut on top. Serve at room temperature or chilled. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator up to three days or in the freezer up to two weeks.

Acorn Squash Soup: Slow Cooker Version
There’s nothing cozier than a bowl of hot soup on a cold day in the fall or winter — especially when it’s homemade. When it comes to squash soups, most folks defer to the butternut squash because it’s got plenty of flesh and is abundantly available. But don’t overlook the acorn squash, the smaller cousin of the butternut that’s a bit nuttier in taste and less sweet.
