Halloween drink recipe

Some people go all out for Halloween. Their yard is packed with fake spider webs and ghosts hanging from the trees, and inside the house they might be serving a “Witches’ Brew” and a “Zombie Punch.”

Fortunately, you can still have a lot of Halloween fun without going that far, including making a Halloween mocktail with dry ice and blackberries. The dry ice (which needs to be handled carefully) adds a spooky effect to the drink, with it creating a fog just above the glass. Fun!

This one also uses blackberries and collagen powder to add some health benefits to the madness! Yes, this is a recipe that kids and adults alike will enjoy.

Best ingredients for a dry ice mocktail

This Halloween mocktail can be made any time of year, truth be told. It can be a dinner party favorite, as guests will be wowed.

This dry ice mocktail consists of a homemade ginger ale and a blackberry drink, brought together. The ginger ale uses fresh ginger and lemon, which are loaded with antioxidants and support a healthy response to inflammation. Raw honey is the natural sweetener of choice, which is full of beneficial enzymes.

The blackberry drink uses fresh blackberries, one of the healthiest fruits. One small serving, which contains about 15 berries, holds a whopping 30 milligrams of vitamin C and almost an entire milligram of manganese, making up about 50 percent of your daily recommended intake for both of those nutrients.

Fresh limes are also used to deliver a great mocktail flavor. They contain a hearty dose of fiber and vitamin C but are low in calories.

Optionally, try to get some black lava salt that helps provide a unique color and flavor. Also called Hawaiian black salt or black sea salt, it’s typically harvested from seawater, which is evaporated using the heat of the sun.

Lastly, the most mixable collagen powder on the planet is our Multi Collagen Protein, which offers support for your skin, gut and joints. This collagen also comes with vitamin C in order to improve our ability to absorb it. It’s flavorless and provides some body for this Halloween mocktail.

This combination of ingredients also makes for nutrition-rich Halloween drink. It produces four servings, 14 ounces each — with 26 grams of carbohydrates, 7 grams of fiber (!), 1 gram of fat and 7 grams of protein. Nutrient-wise, this dry ice mocktail is packed — each serving contains 91 milligrams of vitamin C (101% Daily Value), 25 micrograms of vitamin K (28% DV), 0.8 milligrams of manganese (47% DV) and 0.25 milligrams of copper (28% DV).

How to make a halloween drink

First make up the ginger ale. Chop up the fresh ginger and squeeze the lemon. In a high-speed blender, add in the ginger, lemon juice, honey and sparkling water. Ideally use raw honey, which contains more enzymes.

Blend on high until smooth, about one to two minutes. Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a medium-sized bowl and set aside.

Halloween drink ginger ale

This ginger ale recipe makes two cups. Store the remaining drink mixture in an airtight container and place in the refrigerator. Ginger ale will last up to one week.

Next, make up the blackberry drink. Rinse the fresh blackberries. In the high-speed blender, add the blackberries, Multi Collagen Protein powder and distilled water. Why distilled water? Distilled water is water that has been purified through a distillation process, and because it’s without any impurities or minerals, it marries better with the dry ice ingredient that you will add later.

Blend on high until smooth, about one to two minutes. Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a medium-sized bowl until no pulp remains.

Having fun yet? Pour the black lava salt into a wide bowl, and squeeze lime juice into another bowl. Dip each glass in the lime juice and then into the black lava salt.

Add mint, lime juice and blackberries to the glass. Muddle well to mash the fruit together and release the flavors. Add three-fourths cup of the blackberry drink and top with a half-cup of homemade ginger ale.

Muddling Halloween drink

Want to turn this drink into a dry ice cocktail or Halloween cocktail? Simply stir in an ounce of vodka or gin to each drink before adding the dry ice.

For the final spooky step, add in the dry ice and serve immediately. Never use a large piece, as a small piece will create the desired foggy effect. One-inch chunks of dry ice will settle to the bottom of the glass in about five minutes.

As a precaution, please know that dry ice should only be handled with tongs or gloves. It can burn skin because it’s extremely cold. Dry ice lasts in the freezer for up to 24 hours.
