DIY Hair Rinse with Herbal Cider Vinegar
By Holly Darnell, RD
June 25, 2022
Is your hair frizzy? Does it look dull or break easily? That's probably because your hair is more alkaline — aka higher on the pH scale.
It may be time to make your own DIY hair rinse, and a key ingredient is some form of apple cider vinegar to promote healthy pH balance.
The form of apple cider vinegar we recommend is Herbal Cider Vinegar, a first-of-its-kind formula that combines apple cider vinegar with 10+ organic, regenerative superfood ingredients that generally support healthy microbial balance as well as promote healthy antioxidant levels — both of which can assist hair health.
In contrast, many of the store-bought hair rinses may strip the hair and scalp of its natural oils. This can cause dryness and even dandruff. Instead, you want that natural acidity that apple cider vinegar brings. It also can remove residue that may be in your hair from product buildup.
This DIY hair rinse can revitalize your hair and scalp, leaving your hair soft and smooth alongside a balanced, non-itchy scalp.
Some DIY recipes are difficult to make. Not this one. Simply combine Herbal Cider Vinegar, water and grapefruit essential oil into a small glass bottle or spray bottle. Shake or mix until well combined.
Why grapefruit essential oil? You'll find it in many hair cleansing products and serums because it works as a great cleanser when applied to the scalp. It can help remove excess sebum and promote an overall healthy scalp.
Apply the apple cider vinegar hair rinse to your hair and scalp after shampooing. Leave it in for 20 minutes and rinse afterwards with cold water.
